LedgerMatch

Supported bank and ledger formats

LedgerMatch works from transaction exports so bookkeepers can reconcile without a live bank connection. Upload a statement export and an accounting ledger export, then map the columns before matching.

Files LedgerMatch accepts

  • CSV files — the recommended format for most bank and accounting exports.
  • TSV files — useful when transactions are separated by tabs.
  • XLSX spreadsheet files exported from supported systems.

Columns used for matching

Column names do not have to be identical. During upload, map the fields LedgerMatch needs, such as date, description, amount, debit, credit, and reference. The matching workflow then compares the statement and ledger rows using the mapped values.

PDF and image statements

The core LedgerMatch upload accepts transaction spreadsheets rather than PDF or image files. If a statement is a PDF or image, use the separate free PDF & Image Table Extractor to turn the table into a reviewable CSV, then bring that CSV into LedgerMatch.

Export formats

After review, results can be exported as CSV, with QuickBooks and Xero workflows available for the next accounting step.

Frequently asked questions

Can LedgerMatch import a PDF bank statement?

The core LedgerMatch upload accepts CSV, TSV, and XLSX transaction files. Convert a PDF statement to CSV first, then upload the resulting spreadsheet.

Do my bank and ledger columns need the same names?

No. LedgerMatch includes a column-mapping step so you can identify the date, description, amount, debit, credit, and reference fields in each export.
