Citibank CSV Export: Column Layout & Reconciliation Guide
Citibank splits amounts into separate Debit and Credit columns instead of a single signed Amount, and includes Pending rows mixed in with cleared transactions. Importing this directly into QuickBooks produces unbalanced totals and false duplicates as pending items later post. This tool merges the split Debit/Credit columns into one signed amount and filters Pending rows out before you download, so only cleared transactions reach your ledger.
CSV format at a glance
- Date format: MM/DD/YYYY
- Amount layout: separate debit and credit columns
- Separate Debit (money out) and Credit (money in) columns. One is populated per row, the other is blank.
Where to export the CSV
Sign in → Accounts → select account → Download → Comma Separated (.csv)
Common import issues
- Debit and Credit are separate columns — a single Amount column does not exist. LedgerMatch's column mapper has a "Split debit/credit" mode that combines these into one signed amount automatically.
- The Status column includes "Pending" rows. Filter to "Cleared" only before reconciling to avoid matching unposted transactions.
- Citi credit card exports use the opposite convention — a "Debit" charge means you owe money (opposite of a checking account "Debit").
Useful setup tips
- Use LedgerMatch's split-column mode: map Debit → Debit Amount and Credit → Credit Amount. The engine will combine them into a single signed amount.
- Filter the Status column to "Cleared" in a spreadsheet before uploading, or use LedgerMatch's row-filter option to skip "Pending" rows.
